KINGSTON, Jamaica, Thursday April 4, 2013 – The mother of two children who perished in a blaze that destroyed their home last week, will appear in the Chapleton Resident Magistrate’s Court next Wednesday.
Police said that 32-year-old domestic worker, Latoya Fraser, was charged with cruelty to children after she turned herself in to law enforcement authorities on Tuesday.
Police said 10-year-old Juniel McKenzie and her seven year-old sister, Bianca, were asleep when their mother allegedly left them alone to purchase items at a nearby shop.
Residents say they were able to rescue Fraser's four-year-old son Joel from the blaze that destroyed the one-bedroom house. The charred remains of the two girls were later found in the rubble.
According to the police, the woman returned to the house at Mount Imus, near Pennants in Clarendon then fled the scene. (CMC) Click here to receive free news bulletins via email from Caribbean360. (View sample)
