FIVE years ago, Romain Virgo was relatively unknown in music circles. But on Saturday night, he had thousands of fans sing along to his songs at Shaggy and Friends concert.
The 21-year-old thrilled the audience at Jamaica House event with popular songs including The Rain is Falling, Taking You Home, Love Doctor , Rich in Love and Can't Sleep.
According to Virgo, he is putting final touches to his 16-track album entitled System slated to be released in April of this year.
"I'm very excited about this project. I do believe it has potiential to do better than my debut's album which was well received by the fans. A lot of energy was placed in it and as usual we are taking our time to choose the right musical material as one cannot rush or hurry music," he said.
Virgo said he has matured and this will seen on his through the songs on his upcoming album.
"This level of maturity has alot to do with the members of my management team. Persons such as Donovan Germaine; Dawin, Omar and Shane Brown; along with the rest, have guided my footsteps ensuring that I'm not lacking as it relates to producing great songs," he said.
"You mad! Mi caan go inna di studio with foolishness," a laughing Virgo continued.
The singer's first taste of stardom started in 2006 when he led Aabuthnot Gallimore High School in St Ann to second place in the television programme All Together Sing.
In 2007, at 17, he was victorious at winning the Digicel Rising Star talent show making him the youngest to ever win that competition.
According to the singer, 2012 aims at being a successful year for him as he anticipating tours of sections of the Caribbean, Europe and the United States.
