James Morney bought this historic land in 1876 for farming and It has been a gathering place for over 30 years celebrating Juneteenth. There is a spiritual connection in walking the land of former slaves, knowing that their hard work, love of family and culture is still present in the remaining generations. Maintaining and preserving the history is necessary so that all who come to Morney Berry Farm know the struggles and triumphs of freedmen.
