Comparing anyone to the great Alton was a violation. I'm not saying that kartel is the next coming of Bob, what I am saying is that what he brought to the game wasn't accepted during his time on earth. We have Kartel who is now incarcerated and his contribution to the industry isn't accepted either.

both entertainers are great at what they do (because dancehall dying without Addi) and they both have the same itch to push it to the limit.
Before there was reggae people use to be on Rock Steady and that was the main form of music in the caribbean (Jamaica).
Bob came and pushed the limit and kicked the door down taking on a lot of the backlash directed at him.
Bob says Lick Samba & Kartel says Romping Shop.
Bob say I shot the Sherriff & Kartel said Weh Dem Call Police Fah...
Them seh Rasta not to talk to white woman and Bob had a white baby momma.
Bob got how many baby mommas and kartel has how many baby mommas?
Bob wear tight pants which was a huge violation and Kartel wear tattoo.
There is a lot more but these are just some off the top things that come to mind.

The primary point that I wanted to raise however was that both weren't (aren't) accepted in their times. Both weren't (aren't) accepted in Jamaica by the powers that run the country (outcast). Both are responsible for invading the norm in their generation pushing it to the limit to the point where something new is formed.

To Be Continued...

Again if I was to say who is closest to having the conscious impact that Bob had, I'd have to go with my artist Buju Banton.

The crux of WHY it is that both weren't fully accepted by the masses is the main difference and a very significant one before such a comparison...The crux of WHY it is that both weren't fully accepted by the masses is the main difference and a very significant one before such a comparison could be made, in my view.

LOVE Bob - especially She Used to Call me Dada! Love his music that made you think and moved you to love. VK also can move you to lust...LOL...also important. Just a different kind of thing. Who VK was before he was famous is who he still is. I think people give him grief because of the example he sets. But who you or your kids choose to emulate is not on him, it is on the individual. He didn't ask to be a role model. He just wanted to be an artist. His behavior at times is questionable but he is who he is.

Everyone's status I looked at today keeps saying happy birthday bob marley, we love you bob, we miss you bob, etc...
I wonder if he was that loved when he was alive? I know growing up in jamaica a lot of people did to bob then and treated him then as a likkle dread locks bwoy who nah deal with rastafari ting the way it's suppose to be dealt with. Some even fealt as if he sold out when he started toalking to women of other faith and religios beliefs. They even took it as far as say that the one bag a woman woman ting that bob was on puts him on a lesser level that Bunny Wailer was on.
Sounds familiar? It should, because it's exactly what's being done to popular dancehall dj Vybz (cakesoap) Kartel.
The funny thing is that now, those same people who dissed Bob back in the days are using bob's image to showcase jamaica and sell the image of jamaica. Before he was just a likkle dutty dreadlocks bwoy; now he's an icon responsible for ushering in a new era of jamaica and of the caribbean culture.
It's funny how things came full circle to now we have Bobs kids reaping the rewards of their fathers labor. They are basking in the legacy of what was once called a dutty rasta bwoy...
To be continued...
