Kerry-Jo Lyn of the Digicel Foundation pets a chicken on a recent visit to the egg production facility run by the Mile Gully Entrepreneurial Woman's Group. Unemployed and struggling to feed their families, the women of Mile Gully in the hills of St Mary, turned this challenge into an opportunity to form a group and began an egg production project as a way to provide employment for their members. The Digicel Foundation invested over $1.2 million into the project to help them to increase egg production. Since then, these inspirational women have been unable to keep up with the demand at the weekly farmers' market. They are now able to use their profits to support their families, even as they reinvest in their business so it can continue to expand.
